There isn’t really any one single memory that sticks out for me. They just all seem to combine together. Maybe it’s the tradition that I love so much about Christmas.
Growing up we did the same thing every year. We visited and spent time with family. Even now as an adult I still do the same thing as I did when I was 6 years old. The only difference is that I drive myself now.
I just always remember waking up so excited on Christmas morning. Me and my Sister were never allowed to go into the living room first, it was always my Dad that had to lead the way. We always had the mandatory phone calls from grandparents, asking what Santa brought. It was always so exciting telling everyone what we got. We were always just so excited, that we could never stomach breakfast, but we’d be starving by 11 o clock so we would always stuff our faces with sweets and biscuits to tide us over until dinner.
I don’t have a big family, so I’m pretty close to my extended family. One of my most memorable Christmas memory was always going to my Great Aunt’s house, it was the meeting place on Christmas morning. The house would be packed, everyone happy and laughing, passing around sweets spreading Christmas cheer. It was always a great atmosphere as a child.
Even now as an adult, I still do the same thing every Christmas. I guess my favourite Christmas memory is just spending time with family. I find that it just has that special feeling that I love, it’s traditional and I believe that is what Christmas is all about, spending time with the people you love.
